What is seasonal color analysis?

Seasonal color analysis sorts natural coloring into 12 seasons using three qualities: warm or cool, light or deep, and bright or soft. Your season is the group of colors that shares those qualities, so it evens out your skin and makes your eyes look clearer. In short: Springs are warm and clear, Summers cool and soft, Autumns warm and earthy, Winters cool and high-contrast.

How the 12 seasons work

Every season has one dominant quality and one secondary quality. The dominant quality names the season; the secondary one decides which neighbor it leans towards. That is why each season shares its main trait with a season from another family.

DeepDeep Autumn (warm) · Deep Winter (cool)
BrightBright Spring (warm) · Bright Winter (cool)
SoftSoft Autumn (warm) · Soft Summer (cool)

How to check your season at home

  1. Stand by a window in daylight, with no makeup, and pull back dyed hair if you can.
  2. Hold two tops or scarves under your face at a time: gold vs silver, cream vs bright white, a muted color vs a vivid one, a light color vs a dark one.
  3. Notice your skin, not the fabric. The right color makes skin look even and eyes clear; the wrong one shows shadows, redness or a gray cast.
  4. Compare the winners with the palettes of your quiz result and its runner-up, such as Soft Summer and Soft Autumn.

How accurate is a color analysis quiz?

A quiz narrows you down to one or two likely seasons from what you know about your coloring. Lighting, hair dye and memory all add error, so check the result by holding clothes in the suggested colors next to your face in daylight. A professional in-person draping is the most reliable method.

Do I need a photo to find my color season?

No. This quiz asks about your veins, how you react to the sun, your natural hair and eyes, and how certain colors look on you. Nothing is uploaded; answers stay in your browser.

Can your color season change?

Your natural coloring rarely changes enough to move you to a different season, although graying hair and age can soften contrast, so some people move towards a softer neighbor. Hair dye changes how colors look on you, but not your underlying season.

What is the difference between warm and cool undertones?

Warm undertones lean golden or peachy and tend to look best with gold, cream and earthy or sunny colors. Cool undertones lean pink or bluish and tend to look best with silver, pure or soft white and blue-based colors. Many people are neutral and lean slightly one way.
